How to build a Faith filled Gallery Wall

How to Build a Christian Gallery Wall in Your Home — A Room by Room Guide

Have you ever walked into someone's home and just felt something different about it? Like the walls were speaking to you? I remember a friend came to visit our house a few months back. I had Bible verse art all along the living room walls and entrance. She stood there reading each one and told me she felt so encouraged and how she felt each piece of christian artwork spoke to her — before she even sat down for a cup of tea!

That moment stuck with me, and honestly it is a big part of why I started BunJenJenDesigns. Because I believe our homes are not just spaces we live in — they are spaces where God should be welcomed, where His word is visible, where our families are reminded every single day of His promises.

If you have been thinking about building a Christian gallery wall in your home but you are not sure where to start, this post is for you. I want to walk you through it room by room, and also share some practical tips on how to arrange your prints so that the wall looks beautiful and not just like you stuck random frames up! 😊

Why Does a Christian Gallery Wall Matter?

The Bible actually talks about this. In Deuteronomy 6:6-7, God instructed the Israelites to keep His commandments on their hearts and to talk about them in their homes — when they sat down, when they walked, when they lay down and when they got up. God wanted His word woven into the everyday rhythms of family life.

A gallery wall of Christian art is one of the most practical and beautiful ways to do that today. It is not just decoration. It is a daily reminder. It is a conversation starter when guests come over. It is the verse your children grow up knowing by heart without even realising it. And on the hard days — and we all have those — it is the promise that catches your eye from across the room and reminds you that God has not forgotten you.

Before You Start — A Few Things to Think About

One question I get asked a lot is: "Rowena, how do I choose which prints to put together? How do I know if they will look good as a set?"

Great question! Here are a few things I personally think about before building a gallery wall.

Group by theme or verse family first

The most cohesive gallery walls are built around a theme — not just a visual theme, but a scriptural one. Ask yourself: what is God speaking to my family in this season? Is it His protection? His provision? Is someone in your household going through a waiting season right now?

Choosing prints around a shared scriptural theme gives your gallery wall a sense of purpose and unity. For example, if you are going through a season of trusting God for finances or a breakthrough, you might want to anchor your wall with pieces from our Verses on Provision collection.

Green pastures -Deuteronomy 30:9 "And the Lord will make you abundantly prosperous in every work of your hand, in the fruit of your body, of your cattle, of your land, for good; for the Lord will again delight in prospering you, as He took delight in your fathers."

If you have children heading out into the world and you want to pray over them every time they walk out the door, our Verses on Protection collection is beautiful for an entrance or foyer wall.

Covered by His wings Psalm 91:4 - He will cover you with His feathers and under His wings, you will find refuge. His faithfulness is your shield and rampart.

Group by colour palette

This is something a lot of people do not think about but it makes such a huge difference! When the colours in your prints have a similar tone or palette, the whole wall feels harmonious and intentional rather than mismatched.

Because all my artwork is hand-illustrated, each piece has its own unique palette — but I do design them so that certain collections naturally work together. For example, the prints in my Seas & Skies collection all share those deep blues, teals, and warm golden tones that look absolutely stunning together on a wall.

Storm fine art print "Matthew 8:25-26 "The disciples went and woke him, saying "Lord save us! we're going to drown!" He replied, "you of little faith, why are you so afraid?" Then He got up and rebuked the winds and waves". A reminder that through any storm situations, know that there is light at the end of the storm. A picture of hope, that breakthrough will come."

The Florals and Trees collection has those warm greens, pinks, and coral tones that sit so beautifully together.

Cherry Blossom -Ecclesiastes 3:11

Wild flowers -Matthew 6:33

A good rule of thumb is: if you can see 2-3 colours that repeat across your prints, the wall will feel like a curated collection rather than a jumble. You can mix collections too — just look for that colour connection across the pieces.

How to Mix Print Shapes — Portrait, Landscape, and Square

This is another question I love because it is where the gallery wall really starts to come alive and look like something from a home magazine!

The secret is this: mixing shapes creates visual interest. If all your prints are the same size and orientation, the wall can start to look a little flat and uniform. But when you mix a portrait (tall) print with a landscape (wide) print and a square print, the eye naturally travels across the wall and it feels dynamic and full of life.

Here is how I would approach it practically:

Start with one anchor piece. This is your largest print and it sets the tone for everything else. If you have a beautiful big portrait print — say an A2 or even a 20"x20" square — place that as the centrepiece. Everything else is arranged around it.

Add smaller square or portrait prints to complete the arrangement. These are your "conversation pieces" — prints that you hang closer together as a little cluster, or dot around the larger pieces to fill in the wall. Square prints like our 12"x12" or 16"x16" Fine Art Prints are perfect for this because they are so versatile.

A combination I love and often recommend is: one large portrait print in the centre,  two smaller square prints stacked on the right. It is asymmetric and that is completely fine! The most beautiful gallery walls are not perfectly symmetrical. They feel natural and personal, just like the faith they represent.

Room by Room — What to Put Where

Your Foyer or Entrance Hall

I truly believe the entrance to your home is one of the most important walls in the whole house. It is the last thing your family sees as they leave each morning and the first thing they see when they come home. What a powerful opportunity to send them out with God's truth and welcome them back with His presence!

For an entrance or foyer, I always recommend something that speaks of God's protection or His blessing over the household. A single statement piece can work beautifully here — you do not need to overcrowd a small hallway. One well-chosen print, framed and hung at eye level, can speak volumes.

Our Verses on Protection collection was designed exactly with this in mind. These are scriptures that remind your family — every single time they walk in or out — that God goes before them and He is their refuge.

If you want to frame it straight away with no extra effort, our Framed Art Prints are ready to hang right out of the box. That is honestly one of the things I am most proud of in that range because I know how busy life gets!

Your Living Room

The living room is usually where I encourage women to go a little bigger and bolder with their gallery wall. This is the heart of most homes — the sofa wall, the chimney breast, or that long stretch of wall you walk past every day. It can handle more prints and a richer arrangement.

This is a wonderful place to build a themed collection. If your family has a testimony of God's faithfulness through difficult times — through a health scare, through financial pressure, through uncertainty — the Seas & Skies collectionspeaks powerfully to that. The inspiration behind those pieces comes from Psalm 93:4 — that God is mightier than the waves, mightier than the storms. No matter how immense the waves of life feel, God is bigger.

Mightier than the seas

For a living room gallery wall, I love seeing the Seas & Skies prints mixed with some of the Florals and Trees pieces. The ocean blues and the warm greens and florals complement each other so well. Use a large landscape Seas & Skies print as your anchor, and then bring in portrait florals on either side — it creates this beautiful, abundant feel.

If you are looking for a complete gallery wall set that requires very little planning from your side, the Armor of God series is absolutely stunning for a living room. There are 6 original hand-illustrated prints, one for each piece of the Armour of God in Ephesians 6 — the Sword of the Spirit, the Shield of Faith, the Helmet of Salvation, the Gospel of Peace and more. Displayed as a set they are breathtaking and the fact that they are a matching series means the colour palette and style is already cohesive. It is one of those gallery walls that people walk into and immediately stop to look at.

Your Dining Room

I have to be honest — the dining room is a space I think a lot of us neglect when it comes to intentional decorating! But think about it. Your family gathers around that table for meals, for homework, for conversations. What a gift to have God's word looking down over those moments.

For a dining room, I am drawn to verses on provision and abundance — scriptures that make every meal feel like an act of gratitude and faith. Our Overflows Fine Art Print based on 2 Corinthians is one of my all-time favourites for this reason. It speaks of God's grace overflowing, and honestly it just brings such a warm and grateful atmosphere to a dining space.

Overflows -2 Corinthians "Overflow with abundance in every good thing you do."

You can keep it simple in a dining room — one or two prints on the main wall behind or beside the table is often enough. A portrait print paired with a square print in matching warm tones works really well here. If your dining room has earthy or natural tones, the Florals and Trees collection will blend in beautifully with the colours in the room while still carrying God's word.

What About Personalised Prints?

If you want to make your gallery wall truly unique and personal to your family, I highly recommend adding a personalised print into the mix. I hand-draw every personalised piece myself — you can add a name and date, which makes it a one-of-a-kind artwork that carries your family's story in it.

Personalised prints are also the most meaningful gifts you can give to another woman for her home — whether she is celebrating a new home, a new baby, a birthday or a milestone in faith. You can browse our Personalised Gifts collection here.

A Few Final Practical Tips

Before you hang anything, lay all your prints out on the floor first. I cannot stress this enough! It lets you play with the arrangement before a single nail goes in the wall.

Leave some breathing room between frames — about 5 to 8cm between each print is a good guide. Too close together and it starts to feel cluttered. Too far apart and the wall loses its sense of being a collection.

And please do not stress about getting it perfectly symmetrical. The most beautiful gallery walls I have seen have a little bit of asymmetry to them — a print that sits slightly lower, a smaller one tucked in at an angle. It feels human and personal, and that is exactly what a faith-filled home should feel like.
